How do I place an order, and what is the process?

1. Start by selecting a design from www.raeesastudio.com and completing the order form on the product page.

2. Click "add to cart" and proceed to the checkout.

Once your order is confirmed, you'll receive an order confirmation via email, containing the details you provided on the order form. Please review it thoroughly to ensure all the information is accurate. If you find any inaccuracies that need correction, kindly reach out to us immediately. Please note that changes cannot be guaranteed after 24 hours.

Your order will now move into production and then be dispatched for shipping. If you requested a text preview or additional customizations, we will send you a preview for approval before production begins.

How does this work?

Your nikah certificate is a beautiful keepsake to be signed on the day of your nikah ceremony. After receiving your Raeesa Studio nikah certificate, bring it with you alongside your other marriage documents to your wedding (katbkitab, nikkah) ceremony.

After the signing, you can display it at your wedding events or frame it and hang it up at home.

When will my order arrive?

Certificates typically require approximately 2–3 weeks for delivery to destinations in the United States or Canada after production. To ensure a smooth experience, we recommend placing your order at least 1–2 months in advance or earlier if possible. Shipments to other countries may take up to 30 business days, however, expedited shipping options are available at check-out. If you’d like to skip shipping, you can also pick up your order directly from our studio in the Greater Toronto Area.

Your contract will be prepared within 4–5 business days (or 5–6 business days for folder sets) before being dispatched to the shipping carrier. Pick-up orders are ready within 4 business days. Please refer to the product page to view the estimated dispatch date for the current week before placing your order, and proceed to checkout to view available shipping options. For more detailed information, visit our Production & Shipping page.

Customizations & Production Time: Any additional customizations, such as a couple’s crest, color changes, or text changes, require extra production time. After placing your order, you will receive an email preview within 5 business days. After you approve the final design, your certificate will take 5 more business days to be created before it is dispatched. Please note that if you take longer to approve the preview or request further changes after seeing it, the production and shipping timeline may be extended.

What are the shipping options?

We ship worldwide. View shipping options here or directly at check-out. You will receive tracking information once your order has been dispatched.

My nikah date is time sensitive, what do I do?

If your nikah date is time-sensitive or you need your order sooner than usual, please complete our time-sensitive inquiry form or contact us before placing your order. We will respond within 24 hours.

If you do not contact us beforehand, we cannot guarantee expedited production or shipping.

Does the certificate include a frame or pen?

Frames and pens are included exclusively with our bundles. Folder sets include a pen.

Certificates purchased on their own do not include a frame or pen, however both are available for purchase separately. Purchase frames and pens here.

What is a nikah certificate, and is it Islamically valid or just for display?

A nikah certificate is a document that records an Islamic marriage and is proof that the nikah took place. It includes the names of the bride and groom, witnesses, wali, and corresponding signatures.

Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificates hold Islamic validity as full Muslim marriage contracts provided that the Mahr is stated on the certificate. You have the flexibility to personalize the Mahr directly on our website once you have selected your preferred design. It is entirely up to you whether or not you wish to include the Mahr on the certificate.

Opting to keep your certificate as a keepsake without the Mahr is also a viable choice. Many of our couples choose not to include their Mahr but instead keep it as a memento, honoring the memory of their nikah.

What's the difference between a nikah certificate and nikah contract/nikkahnama?

A nikah certificate and a nikah contract (nikkahnama) both refer to the document signed during an Islamic marriage. A nikah certificate generally serves as proof that the nikah took place, while a nikah contract (nikkahnama) includes more detailed information, such as the rights and responsibilities of each spouse.

Essentially, they are the same marriage document, with the nikah contract/nikkahnama being a more detailed version that may include the mahr and/or additional conditions agreed upon by the couple.

Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificates can serve as fully Sharia-compliant nikah contracts by simply including the Mahr. We also offer optional additional pages, designed to match and finished with the same hand-painted embellishments, for couples who wish to include additional conditions. You’re free to customize the text on your certificate, and upon request, we can send your finalized text directly to your officiant.

It is important to note that our contracts do not serve as official government documents. It remains your responsibility to complete the official registration of your marriage with the appropriate local government authorities.

Do we need a signed nikah contract for a valid Islamic marriage?

No. A Muslim marriage contract does not have to be written on paper. The contract can be completed orally, as long as it meets the requirements of a valid nikah. However, it has become common for couples to have a written certificate that not only confirms their contract but also includes conditions, similar to a pre-nup.

A written contract may still be required if your masjid, officiant, or local government asks for one for documentation purposes. In Western countries, your officiant will usually bring their own contract documents and may ask you to fill in necessary details for their records. You don’t need to worry about bringing the “correct” nikah papers, as long as you have a qualified and experienced officiant. However, you are responsible for any documents required for government registration. Read more about full nikah contracts here.

Many couples still choose to bring their own nikah certificate for keepsake and display. At Raeesa Studio, our contracts serve a meaningful reminder, and unlike standard officiant papers, they are original art with hand-painted details.

What's the purpose of a Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificate?

Your Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificate is an heirloom created to be signed during your religious ceremony. Couples love how it elevates their wedding photos and becomes an integral part of the nikah decor, providing a deeply personal and artistic element that enhances the meaning of the ceremony.

Unlike generic, mass-produced certificates, our contracts are individually designed by our founding artist, transforming the signing of your marriage contract into a sentimental experience.

What makes Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificates different from other vendors?

Raeesa Studio creates original, artist-led nikah certificate designs, not mass-produced templates. Each certificate is designed in-house by our founding artist, giclée printed, and carefully finished by hand with hand-painted metallic embellishments. We take the extra time to prime and varnish each contract, giving it the durability and long-term preservation that sets our work apart. We treat all our nikah certificates as unique heirlooms, not just wedding stationery.

Our certificates are more than beautiful keepsakes. The text has been approved by marriage officiants, and with your mahr included, it serves as a fully sharia-compliant nikah contract. We honor the significance of nikah by offering the option to include additional conditions, ensuring your certificate is both visually stunning and true to your commitments.

ABOUT NIKAH CERTIFICATES

Collapsible content

Are these valid Muslim marriage contracts?

Yes. Raeesa Studio nikah certificates hold Islamic validity as Sharia compliant Muslim marriage contracts provided that the Mahr is stated on the certificate. You have the flexibility to personalize the Mahr directly on our website once you have selected your preferred design.

It is entirely up to you whether or not you wish to include the Mahr on the certificate. Opting to keep the certificate as a cherished keepsake without the Mahr is also a viable choice.

Raeesa Studio nikah contracts have been evaluated by recognized marriage officiants in Canada. These certificates have been signed by numerous couples worldwide, including those in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and various European and Asian countries, at their nikah ceremonies.

It is important to note that while our nikah certificates hold Islamic validity as Muslim marriage contracts, they do not serve as official government documents. It remains your responsibility to complete the official registration of your marriage with the appropriate local government authorities.

What is Mahr?

Mahr/Mehr is a gift or amount the groom must give to bride during the nikah process.

Your nikah certificate is valid if the Mahr is included, but you can opt to leave it out and use the certificate as a keepsake instead.

What text will be on my certificate?

View our certificate text here. Raeesa Studio nikah certificate texts have been approved by Islamic scholars and are applicable to all sects. All certificates include hand-composed Arabic calligraphy of the basmala with Surah Ar-Rum and translation at the top.

You can request for changes to the text, on the “text changes” section on the order form after choosing a design.

What are marriage conditions?

Marriage conditions are agreed-upon requirements that are included as part of the marriage contract. These conditions outline specific expectations and rights within the marriage. Common examples include a condition that a second wife is not permitted, how matters will be handled in the event of divorce, living arrangements, financial responsibilities, and other mutually agreed terms. Marriage conditions are added on separate pages that accompany your marriage certificate. These pages are designed to match the certificate exactly, using the same border design, border embellishment, and size you have selected. Each page can accommodate up to five conditions.

Where can I add marriage conditions?

Once you've selected a design, you have the option to include additional pages for your marriage conditions. Each page can accommodate up to 5 conditions and will match the design and embellishments of your certificate.

After choosing a design, select “Marriage Conditions” on the order form under the extra customization section.

Alternatively, we've collaborated with the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, who have designed a marriage contract available for free download and use. Check it out here.

What if I need to make a change to my order after it has been placed?

Please email us promptly. If your certificate is already in production, no changes can be made. If needed, a new certificate can be created for a fee.

Upon placing your order, you will promptly receive an email containing an order confirmation. This email will include the information you supplied in the order form. We kindly request that you carefully review the details to confirm their accuracy. If you happen to identify any inaccuracies requiring correction, we urge you to contact us without delay. It's important to note that we cannot guarantee modifications after a 24-hour period has passed.

Will I get to see a preview of my certificate?

We will only send a text preview if you specifically request it when placing your order. To request a preview, please write “send me a preview” in the notes section of the order form. Text previews are also automatically provided if you choose an extra customization such as text changes, color changes, or a couple’s crest, or select a non-English language text.

If you do not request a preview, we will proceed directly with your order and dispatch it as quickly as possible, using the information you submitted on your order form. For the fastest dispatch, we recommend not requesting a preview.

Standard preview requests will be sent via email within 1–2 business days. Orders with extra customization will receive a preview within 3–5 business days. If further edits are requested after the initial preview, a revised preview will be sent within 1–2 business days. Once you approve the final text, please allow 5 business days for us to create your certificate before it is dispatched for shipping.

Important: Requesting a preview may extend the production timeline, especially if multiple edits are needed or if there is a delay in your approval. It is your responsibility to respond promptly to our emails and, if needed, to accommodate any expedited shipping to meet your desired delivery date.

Note: Due to copyright restrictions, the border design is not included in the preview, unless you have requested a color change as part of your customization.

Can my officiant see a preview?

Yes. If you wish for your officiant or mosque to review the certificate, please specify this request in the notes section when placing your order.

Raeesa Studio Nikah Certificate text has been reviewed and approved by respected Muslim scholars and officiants internationally.

Yes, you can request this in the
notes section of the order form when you are placing an order.

What customization options are available?

What is the couple’s crest?

The couple’s crest is a unique emblem exclusive to Raeesa Studio nikah certificates and wedding products. Our calligrapher will create a beautiful crest featuring the groom and bride's first names in Arabic.

Note: Our calligrapher will create one unique hand-composed design. If you need additional versions, there will be a fee for each new version.

Can I change parts of the design?

We can change parts of our design for a fee. Please email us at info@raeesastudio.com with the date of nikah, shipping address, and design you would like changed.

I don’t know the Islamic date for my nikah, what do I do?

If you're completing the order form and are unsure of the Islamic date, you can leave it blank, and we will fill it in for you using our references.

The Islamic/Hijri calendar is lunar based, hence, the exact date may not be accurate until the start of that month. However, the dates may be estimated using various sources. Keep in mind, if your nikah is after Magrib, that will count as the next day.

Alternatively, you can obtain the Islamic date from your local mosque, Imam, Officiant, or online sources if you prefer to provide it.

How will I receive my contract?

To ensure safe shipping, if you order just the certificate, it will be shipped either rolled in a sturdy tube or flat in a protected box with layered protection. If you order a frame or bundle, your certificate will always be shipped flat with protective layers, along with the frame or other items in the box.

For our Folder Nikah Contract set, the certificate pages will be placed inside the folder, with acid-free protective paper between the pages and around the vegan leather. The folder is then wrapped in plastic and packaged in a foldable box for delivery.

How do I unroll my contract?

In some cases, your contract may arrive rolled to protect it during shipping. If it does, lay it face down and place a substantial weight such as a laptop, books, or similar items on top to help it flatten naturally. Do not bend it in the opposite direction. Allow a few days for the certificate to fully unfurl. If you have ordered a frame, you can also place the certificate directly inside the frame to help flatten it.

Read our guide on how to flatten your certificate.

When do I sign the contract?

Typically, most couples hand over the marriage certificate to the officiant at the start of the ceremony, allowing for the signing of all necessary documents in unison. You have the choice to follow this tradition or alternatively sign the certificate towards the end of the ceremony.

If you've selected the option for only the bride and groom to sign, you can choose to do so at your convenience. Many couples have chosen to sign their certificates during receptions or even at anniversary celebrations.

Are your nikah contracts handmade?

When you purchase an embellished Raeesa Studio nikah certificate, you receive a completely original design created in-house. Each piece is customized with your details, giclée printed, and then hand-embellished in our studio.

Our artist hand-paints all the metallic gold details. No machines are used for the embellishing process. Each certificate is carefully primed and varnished for durability and long-term preservation. We treat every nikah certificate as a unique heirloom, not just wedding stationery.

ABOUT FRAMES AND BUNDLES

Collapsible content

How will I receive the bundle?

Your bundle will arrive in a single box containing the certificate, pen, and frame together. In most cases, the certificate is shipped flat, protected between layers of board. In rare cases, the certificate may be rolled in a tube while the frame remains in the box. Either way, the certificate, pen, and frame will always be shipped together.

Where can I find a frame?

You can purchase our gold frames here, or find suitable frames at your local craft store or art gallery.

How do I assemble the frame?

Here is a step-by-step guide to assembling Raeesa Studio frames.

What is included in the bundle package?

The bundle includes:

  • Nikah Certificate
  • Frame
  • Feather Pen

Frame comes complete with a plexi-glass front and foam board backing. The feather pen is a ballpoint pen with black ink.

Is the frame already assembled or will I need to frame the nikah certificate myself?

Your frame and certificate will arrive together, but the certificate is not inserted. You can place it in the frame yourself. Watch this video for step-by-step instructions.

What material is the frame made of?

Our frames are made of durable aluminum, built to resist warping, cracking, and other damage. They are heavy-duty, which is why a screwdriver is needed to open them. The screw-secured closure keeps your certificate safe and secure, offering better protection than traditional wooden frames.

Is the frame archival or acid-free to protect the paper long-term?

Yes, our frames are made of durable aluminum and are designed to protect your certificate long-term. They are safe for archival use and will not cause yellowing. We do not recommend wooden frames, as the glues and finishes used in them can cause paper to yellow over time. Our metal frames avoid this issue and keep your certificate looking beautiful for years.

Can I choose a different frame color or finish?

No, we currently only offer our aluminum gold frame. If you’d like, you can purchase just the frame separately. It is available for purchase separately here.

How is the frame packaged to ensure it doesn’t break during shipping?

Our frames are carefully packaged to prevent damage during shipping. Each frame is wrapped in protective plastic, with corner protectors to safeguard the edges. The plexiglass is covered to prevent scratches, and the frame is shipped inside a sturdy folder or box for extra protection.

Can the frame be opened easily if we want to reframe it later?

Yes, the frame can be opened if you want to reframe your certificate later. It is secured with screws for a sturdy fit, so you will need a screwdriver to open it. The frame is made of durable aluminum and designed to keep your certificate safe while allowing you to remove or replace it when needed.

Is the feather pen gold or silver?

If you order a gold-embellished certificate, we will typically include a gold pen. If gold is out of stock, a silver pen will be provided. You can check which color is currently available before purchasing the bundle here.

Does the pen come with a stand?

No, the pen stand is not included.
