When you receive your nikah certificate, you’ll notice that it is rolled. The reason we roll our certificates so that they remain safe and protected during shipping.
The following is a guide on how to unroll and flatten your nikah certificate. If you have a frame, you can skip this process and place the contract directly into the frame, which will flatten it. For framing instructions, please view this guide instead.
Things you will need:
- Clean flat surface
- Paper weights or thick books
Step 1: Unroll your contract
Carefully remove the lid from the shipping tube and take out the contract. It will be rolled in tissue as well as a protective paper. Carefully remove the wax seal and tape and unroll out the certificate.
Be super gentle as any embellished details are hand painted. Do not bend or fold your certificate.
Step 2: Place facing down
Put the protective paper from step 1 on a clean flat surface. Place your contract front facing down so the design portion is facing the paper.
Step 3: Paperweights
Place paperweights or thick books all over the back of the contract ensuring to cover the entire back side. It’s important to cover the entire back surface to ensure even weight distribution.
Tip: For added protection, place another piece of paper or cloth over the back before using weight or books to flatten it.
Step 4: Give it a few days
Allow it to flatten for at least a 3-4 days or more. The time needed may vary depending on how long it was rolled. For example, if it has been in transit for a while, it may take longer to flatten. Placing directly inside a frame is the best option to keep it flat.
Step 5: Ready to be signed
After a few days, remove weights and your certificate is ready to be signed. May Allah SWT bless your marriage journey with ease and peace. Ameen.
Tip: You can stick your contract to a foam board of the same size with double sided tape to add a hard backing. However, ensure you are careful not to damage the paper.
